Information from the Teachers' Alliance of Gwinnett (T.A.G.)

Information from the Teachers' Alliance of Gwinnett (T.A.G.):

Dear Friends & Supporters,

Since we are receiving many requests for information about joining T.A.G. or lending support, and though our target date to "debut" as a viable organization to support Gwinnett's teachers and support personnel is this coming January, we have decided to release the following preliminary info.

Until such time as our projected T.A.G. website is up-and-running, you can correspond by writing to...

Teachers' Alliance of Gwinnett
P. O. Box 1126
Auburn, Georgia 30011

There are three membership options
and annual dues are $45 for all
member categories* =

I. Teachers ($45) -
Certified, Active [CT]
Retired [RT]
Substitute or Student [ST]
II. Support Staff ($45) - [SS]
III. Friend of TAG ($45) - [FT]

* Your name and membership information will be kept completely confidential.
You can write the P.O.B. for
a list of our goals/aims to serve Gwinnett's teachers.
Membership applications will be available shortly.
T.A.G.'s governing body consists of 17 positions (nine are officers & eight are advisory). The officers are dues-paying members. Advisory members are dues-optional.
We still have need for a few more officers and an advisor or two.
Positions are:

Officers - Exe. Director
Deputy Director
Community Affairs Rep.
High Sch. Membership Leader
Middle Sch. Mem. Leader
Elementary Mem. Leader
Sr. Field Investigator
Assist. Field Investigator
Webmaster

Advisors - Legal Counsel and
7 Honorary Consultants (GCPS Teacher, GCPS Support Staff, Retired Teacher, GCPS Parent Leader, Non-GCPS Teacher, Business Partner, College/Univ. Professor)

Our modest membership goal for Year One (2007-2008) is 300 dues-paying members & $10,000 in donations. Currently, we have NO BUDGET (!). We could also use certain other donated services and resources as will be requested later...
Ultimately, we strive to have at least three T.A.G. members in every GCPS school, one of whom will function as a TAG Section Leader [SL]; one as Assistant Section Leader [ASL]; and one as Deputy Section Leader [DSL]. These individuals will be responsible for recruiting new members from that school community and several other key duties.

This takes a tremendous amount of courage from the teachers; TAG/White Rose and shows that they really do have the best interests
of the children at heart. It is imperative that the citizens of gwinnett support them, and thus their own children, in this endeavor to improve the current situation...

God Bless the people behind TAG and good luck!

We support you, may 2007 be good to your organization.....

TAG upon your official launch be sure to send a well crafted Press Release to the local newspapers, The AJC and The Gwinnett Daily Post. It would be a legitimate news story for them.

Here are just a few GCPS FACTS for you to ponder:
1. against county board policy and state law, selected staff have been promoted without vacancy posting, screening or interviewing by Wilbanls, Loe, Davis (i.e.,see Larry Ziegler,Arthur Knight)
2. staff have illegally passed themselves off as otherwise credentialled which mandates termination but are close to Wilbanks, Loe, Davis (i.e., see Jim Steele, Stan Mayweather)
3. staff have been caught cheating and plagarizing in mandated state coursework and it apparently
was covered up whilethey were promoted by Wilbanks, Loe, Davis (i.e., see Arthur Knight)
4. staff have been hired or promoted or scared off under possible inappropriate relations
demanded of them by Davis
5. staff have had cultural, gender-based, sexual harrassment, inappropriate relations, racial discrimination charges against them covered up by Wilbanks, Loe, Davis
(i.e., see Gordon Riffel)
6. staff have been involved in double-dipping (getting extra system income while already on the clock for salary income) (i.e., Davis, Davis' sister, Loe)
7. discipline data remains a joke as schools and local school administrators are told to hold down the numbers and the local school administrators tell their staff not to refer those who violate the system discipline code
so as not to end up on the NCLB list
8. the "no social" promotion ala
Wilbanks and Loe is a farce as the term "social promotion" has just been retooled as "transitioning";
in other words, students who do not pass courses/grades and do not pass exit exams are promoted to the next grade any way via "Transitioning"
9. the GCPS board is well aware of all of these issues, but appear to be more concerned with presenting a pretty picture of Gwinnett and protecting their roles versus truly caring for students and their education
10. the Open Records Act may not suffice since many records either no longer exist (hint: destroyed) or are hidden and protected
11. thousands of dollars wasted ala Wilbanks, Loe, Davis by bringing in expensive motivational speakers that were apparently and knowingly proved to be frauds and/or criminals(i.e., Willard Daggett, Dolores Cross)
12. some local school administrators
have had and continue to have inapprorpiate relations with staff and have been ignored for 10+ years
by Wilbanks, Loe, Davis
13. Davis undertook an apparent ly unathorized trip to India to oversee the hiring of teachers when in fact an organization was hired to handle that entire process
14. many, many friends and associates of Loe and Davis have been promoted without vacany notification, screening, interviewing (i.e., see Dana McGraw, Tricia Kennedy, Judith Riffel)
15. same as above can be said for "Teachers on Special Assignment" who are counted in the system's student to teacher ratios but never see students and are in effect de facto administrators who are then (same as above) promoted to coordinator positions and later to director positions
16. much can be said in similar fashion for those administrators who have retired and then are re-hired to newly created positions.
Ah, the list goes on and on.

To the 11:34 A.M. Poster why don't you send this info and any documentation you have to The Gwinnett County DA, The Georgia Department of Audits as well as the US Department of Educations Fraud Hotline and The Civil Rights Enforcement department?

These are serious matters and should be disclosed to parties who can do something about them. Most of these reporting officials will allow you to remain anonymous!

Is this how as parents we would like our children to be in their life?

These are the leaders for our children. Our leaders are telling our children it is okay to "cover up" "hide" "false report" "waste"......and the list goes on and on.

I know our classroom teachers are the best in the world, and are teaching our children right,but..........................when our children look at how this organization is run from the top it send a bad meesage to them.

Mr. Wilbanks I beg of you to do what is right for our children and clean house and then resign yourself. That will send the right message to the future leaders of tomorrow.

To this Poster:

You should go online and File a Civil Rights Complaint with the US. Dept of Education Civil Rights Investigation Unit for this now:

5. staff have had cultural, gender-based, sexual harrassment, inappropriate relations, racial discrimination charges against them covered up by Wilbanks, Loe, Davis
(i.e., see Gordon Riffel)

Do what is right and let the authorities know!

Thank you,

I received a letter from the U.S. Department of Education asking that I file my concerns of the GCPS Administration with the State Inspector General in Georgia since the matters of concern fall within their purview.

I thought I would share with the readers this name, address and contact number so you can go straight to the source if you so desire.

Ms. Elizabeth P. Archer
State Inspector General
Office of the Georiga State Inspector General
2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW
1102 West Tower
Atlanta, GA 30334
404-656-7924

The more she hears from all of us, the more she will "need" to investigate. I, concerned parent and taxpayer have a few things I want investigated since the BOE has turned a blind eye!

So to the previous Poster have you personally written the State Inspector Generals Office with your concerns???

To answer the question about writing the State Inspector General....I just got the response letter yesterday and I haven't had a chance to write a letter (or call yet). I plan to take vacation next week since my children will be out school and I will have more time to devote to my thoughts/concerns; however, it would be wonderful if she gets bombarded simultaneously!

Why are there no people of The Jewish Faith employed in The Central Offices in Suwannee? Perhaps Dr. Davis needs to visit Israel in another outreach Program looking for Jewish employees?

A good project for 2007!!!

I am a parent that wants to participate in focused monitoring. I need an educator (retired or otherwise) to put down as a referral. However, since I have a child in SPED and since I have really pushed for reading help, I have been labeled a "nuisance". See the story below.

Even though, teachers have been supportive, and they share what is really going on with me, I know that they do so with great trust as well as peril. Whatever they tell me I keep to myself. I would never reveal who is telling me the information I need to know to help my child get the help needed.

I know that teachers have their hands tied and that administrators might not support them for supporting me.

Story about my child - long story but in case you wanted to know the history.

Please let me know if you can help. I just about gave up thinking about trying to apply til someone pointed this site out and said to ask here. She said there might be some teachers that have nothing to lose (have options, can go elsewhere, have had it, or other) or have retired that might be willing.

I have always read to her. As a matter of fact, I have read more juvenile literature as an adult then I even did as a child because of all the reading I have done. I also did all of the things that were recommended. I started reading to her when she was a baby. She sat facing the book so she could see the letters. She rarely watches TV. We went to the library every week when she was growing up. Today I try to find books on e-text through the internet. She is really good in math (top 5% in math). She is not an unintelligent child. When she was tested her scores indicate that she is what they refer to as "superior". But even if she was below average I do believe children can learn to read, some just need different approaches. When she practices, she practices reading words incorrectly unless she is with me and I can correct her. She needs someone who really knows how to teach reading to student with a reading disability. I have documented that I have asked for this help which really infuriated them. I asked them to write me an explanation why they will not recognize her reading problem in spite of all the standardized data and told them that needed to go in her permanent file too. That made them even angrier because they knew it would hold them accountable. I asked that testing be included in her IEP which is the evidence that she has problems. I told them to add the test results of the CRCT where it indicated she failed the section of the CRCT that involve reading for meaning and understanding.
